As the Memorial Day holiday arrives, we want to take a moment to thank all of our armed forces for the sacrifices they make every day, great and small, to protect us and our freedoms.

And we offer our immense gratitude to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Joe Pettit gave us this throwback photo from the 2008 Pittsburgh air show of a Korean War-era F-86 Sabre fighter jet, an F-15 Eagle air superiority fighter jet and an A-10 Thunderbolt (often referred to as a “Warthog”) close air support aircraft in formation.

And Connor Ochs captured a KC-135 on final approach at Harrisburg International Airport over Old Glory.

Thanks, Joe and Connor.

Our readers continue to pass along shots of unique aircraft, international airports, historical events, gorgeous views and even family vacation photos for this feature. We love them! Keep them coming—you can click here for submission guidelines.
