This 4D animation video, prepared by our construction management team of PJ Dick/Hunt, provides a glimpse of the future and the timeline for critical phases of the terminal construction for the next few years.

Early construction to prepare the site between concourses C and D began in April 2021, with key concrete work starting from the center of the new terminal and expanding out.

The micropile foundations appear in the video in green and are an added safety feature constructed to hold up the weight of the new terminal but reduce pressure on underground utilities, which must remain active throughout construction.

More substantial work on the foundations, erection of structural steel and the building envelope will follow, with the first major cranes coming on site in early 2022 to begin installation of the steel, shown in the video in red. Installation of the elevated roadways also will begin.

By spring and summer 2022, the structural tree support columns, a hallmark of PIT’s design, will be installed, along with large sections of the undulating roof that mimics the rolling hills of the region.

Once the roof sections are in place, the exterior curtain wall and glass will be installed along with the outdoor terraces, shown in the corners.

Work will continue through 2023, with testing and commissioning of the new facilities into late 2024. Opening of the new terminal is expected in early 2025.
