Rain and thunderstorms can be a disappointing occurrence on any vacation, but in aviation they can often lead to delays and flight cancellations.

Storms can force flights to divert, or keep ground crews from being able to load and unload baggage, refuel planes and drive tugs across the airfield.

But sometimes they make for beautiful pictures.

Southwest ramp worker Scott Michalism captured this beautiful shot of a Southwest 737 parked at PIT’s gate A7 just after a July 17 storm subsided. The reflection of the plane and sky on the wet ramp provided a scenic doubletake with a colorful sky.

Similarly, the sun poking through the clouds inspires hope. Bailey Foy took this picture from a plane near Charlotte of sunshine streaming through the clouds.

Our readers continue to pass along shots of unique aircraft, international airports, historical events, gorgeous views and even family vacation photos for this feature. We love them!
