On Sept. 13, the Allegheny County Airport Authority will host another Industry Day for the Terminal Modernization Program (TMP). The objective is to encourage local involvement in the project and connect larger firms with smaller firms to further refine the modernization vision.

“Face-to-face meet-ups are always a wonderful break from the email/phone conversation world we live in,” said Amanda Walicki from Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson, Inc. (JMT) who has participated in past Industry Days organized to provide information on doing business with Pittsburgh International and Allegheny County airports. “Looking back on previous Industry Days, we always enjoyed the chance to network with other firms about the recent updates and new opportunities that are coming out.”

“Industry Day is similar to speed dating,” said Tracey Cullen, Manager of Airport Planning. “Small company representatives go from station to station sharing expertise and interacting with members of larger firms. At previous Industry Days, we’ve had small firms added as sub-consultants to a design team or program management team based on the interactions that occurred at Industry Day.”

To date, 52 percent of sub-contractors selected for the TMP Program Management Office represent local and/or disadvantaged business enterprise organizations. The Airport Authority is committed to involving local and DBE firms in the design and construction of the new facility, and Industry Days are a key tool in advancing that goal.
