No cleverness or philosophical thoughts this week—just our sincere gratitude to all the people who have worn a uniform and made sacrifices for our nation.

To honor our veterans and Veterans Day, we’re sharing a photo Simon Brown shared with us of a C-130 transport plane flying Old Glory out of the hatch at the Cleveland National Air Show.

But the aviation industry’s tremendous appreciation for the military and our veterans isn’t limited to one holiday. You can find signs of it every day of the year.

For example, Alaska Airlines has been flying its “Honoring Those Who Serve” Boeing 737-900ER since 2016, with a custom livery dedicated to the armed forces. Airline employee Danielle Brown snapped a shot when it visited Pittsburgh International Airport recently.

The plane features a quote from President Calvin Coolidge near the rear cargo door: “No person was ever honored for what they received. Honor has been the reward for what they gave.”

Marines, sailors, soldiers, airmen, Coast Guardsmen and everyone else who has served: Thank you for all you have given.

And thank you, Simon and Danielle.

Our readers continue to pass along shots of unique aircraft, international airports, historical events, gorgeous views and even family vacation photos for this feature. We love them! Keep them coming—you can click here for submission guidelines.
