Built For Pittsburgh, By Pittsburgh: Jim and Ryan Gillespie

At 1 a.m. on a long-ago Sunday, Jim Gillespie woke up his son Ryan to take him to a job site on the North Side of Pittsburgh. Jim wanted to show Ryan what working as a journeyman wireman was all about.

Now they’re working together building the new Pittsburgh International Airport.

The Gillespies are our first full-length profile in PIT’s “Built for Pittsburgh by Pittsburgh” video series, highlighting the talented men and women from the region building PIT’s new terminal. Both are IBEW Local Union #5 members; Ryan works with Wellington Power Corp. and Jim works for Thoroughbred Construction Group.

Watch this video to learn Jim’s unique history with PIT and what it means for Ryan to be a second generation IBEW Local Union #5 member.
