Pittsburghers are no stranger to rainy skies, so a trip to London should make them feel right at home.

That was the case for Mark Yazer, who recently captured this rainy-day shot of three British Airways planes on the runway at London-Heathrow Airport (LHR). The Airbus A380 stands tall in the background while an Airbus A319 and A320neo wait behind.

The three aircraft are ready for takeoff, and with increased nonstop routes to PIT, there’s a good chance they may be on their way to the Steel City. When service to LHR from PIT restarted in 2022 after the COVID-19 pandemic, BA offered four flights per week out of Pittsburgh. This past spring, that number rose to six per week, and the flights have been a great success.

Pittsburghers are taking advantage of the chance to cross the Atlantic almost every day, giving them the opportunity not only to explore London but to connect to travel destinations around the world.

Looking to escape the soon-to-be snowy Pittsburgh streets? This nonstop flight can connect you to flights to sandy beaches in Athens or sunny skies in Rome.

Maybe you prefer to lean into the winter wonderland, like our reader Vanessa Bower did. She captured this shot of the Swiss Alps from above the clouds. Luckily, a flight from PIT to LHR can easily connect you to a frosty getaway in Switzerland, giving you views just like this one.

Thanks, Mark and Vanessa!
