It’s an iconic scene in many romantic movies. Two long-distance lovers reunite after weeks, months or even years apart. Music swells, they embrace. And the cynics somehow watching the movie think, “That never happens in real life.”

Our photo of the week proves otherwise.

Anthony Porter, a window washer with ISS Facility Services at PIT, and Baltimore resident Doris McCown have been in a long-distance relationship for about two years.

They separated for a brief period, but absence, it seems, played its part well. After a few months back together, they knew they wanted to spend the rest of their lives with each other. All that remained was a proposal.

“I wasn’t nervous at all because I planned it as best as I could,” Porter said. “I was more, just, full of joy. Southwest, Pittsburgh International Airport and my supervisor really helped me in the best way they could.”

Porter asked. McCown accepted. They are both looking forward to a happy future together.

Congratulations on your engagement, Anthony and Doris!
