August 19 is National Aviation Day, and what better way to celebrate than with a summer airshow?

This week, Blue Sky News reader Matt Slafka visited Seattle’s King County International Airport, otherwise known as Boeing Field, to see commercial, general aviation, modern military and historical military aircraft in action.

Slafka was one of the lucky attendees of Seattle’s annual Seafair event which features airshows, boat races and community festival events. The event draws over 2 million people from aviation enthusiasts to Seattle natives to world travelers. This time around, Seafair was extra special, as it celebrated its 75th year.

In Matt’s first photo this week, a line of U.S. Navy Blue Angels stands in front of one of the aircraft featured at the show. This marks the first year Seafair held a Blue Angels Walk Down, an event that allowed visitors to see the Blue Angels prepare for take-off.

The second photo features one of the U.S. Navy Blue Angels aircraft in action, taking off into the sky as part of one of the most exciting aviation events of the year.

Our readers continue to pass along shots of unique aircraft, international airports, historical events, gorgeous views and even family vacation photos for this feature. We love them! Keep them coming — you can click here for submission guidelines.
