Another new city is joining Pittsburgh International Airport’s growing route map as Breeze Airways announced Wednesday it will launch nonstop, seasonal service to Louisville, Ky., this summer.
Service between PIT and Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport (SDF) will start May 7 and operate twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays through Sept. 13. Flights are now for sale and can be purchased at FlyBreeze.com.
Louisville on Breeze becomes PIT’s 64th destination, joining Dublin on Aer Lingus launching May 25, among new destinations starting in 2026, and comes shortly after United Airlines announced earlier this month daily nonstop service to Los Angeles beginning March 29.
Pittsburgh and Louisville share business ties in several industries including finance, education and healthcare. PNC Bank has recently expanded its operations in the Louisville area, and the University of Louisville is an Atlantic Coastal Conference rival of the University of Pittsburgh, with both schools interconnected through athletic and media ties.
Louisville also hosts numerous popular tourist attractions popular with leisure travel, most notably the Bourbon Trail, which saw more than 2 million annual visitors three consecutive years from 2022-2024, and Churchill Downs, the site of the historic Kentucky Derby. The region is also home to the Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory, the Muhammad Ali Center, and nearby parks including Mammoth Cave National Park and Cherokee Park and The Parklands Floyds Fork.

“Adding a city like Louisville to our route offerings from Pittsburgh, with its rich history and exciting attractions, is great option for our Guests,” said David Neeleman, founder and CEO of Breeze Airways. “We look forward to welcoming Guests onboard in May, with easy and affordable flights to Northern Kentucky.”
Louisville becomes Breeze’s 14th nonstop destination from PIT, tying it with Allegiant Air for the second most destinations offered by any carrier at the airport. Since Breeze launched service from Pittsburgh in July 2021, it has steadily and successfully grown from its initial four markets by adding point-to-point underserved markets at PIT.
“Breeze’s continued expansion with nonstop service to Louisville, Breeze’s 14th route from Pittsburgh, highlights the strength of our growing market,” said Bryan Dietz, PIT’s Senior Vice President of Air Service and Commercial Development. “Whether it’s leisure travelers headed to the Kentucky Bourbon Trail or business travelers for a meeting, Breeze’s nonstop service and its distinct Nice, Nicer, and Nicest products offer travelers nonstop, convenient options.”
Breeze will operate flights with 137-seat Airbus A220-300 aircraft. The airline is offering special $39 introductory fares for the route’s launch.
Breeze is the first airline to offer regular scheduled nonstop passenger service between Pittsburgh and Louisville since 2018.
