Southwest Airlines is adding another Florida market and increasing service to several destinations early next year as the airline continues to expand its flight schedule from Pittsburgh.
In its latest schedule extension released Thursday, Southwest will add nonstop service between Pittsburgh and West Palm Beach (PBI) starting Feb. 11, 2027, with seasonal flights operating less-than-daily. Nonstop flights between Pittsburgh and West Palm Beach are for sale and can now be booked at Southwest.com.
Additionally, effective January 2027, Southwest is increasing its service year-over-year to the following markets it currently serves nonstop from Pittsburgh International Airport:
- Seasonal nonstop flights to Cancun, which typically resume in early March and run through August, will now return in early January, with flights continuing to operate on Saturdays.
- Nonstop service Fort Myers will increase from 8 weekly flights to 12, with additional flights added on peak travel days.
- Seasonal service to Miami will resume with a full daily flight schedule, up from less-than-daily during the same period in 2026.
Southwest has also continued recent flight increases to destinations from PIT including Denver, Orlando, St. Louis and Tampa into its latest schedule extension, which will boost the carrier’s overall schedule significantly. Between January and early March 2027, Southwest is scheduled to operate up to 37 peak daily departures from PIT, an increase from 30 during the same period in 2026.
“Southwest is a great partner and has grown over the last 21 years to be PIT’s largest carrier in terms of passenger traffic and destinations served,” said Joe Rotterdam, Vice President, Air Service Development at PIT. “Southwest continues to recognize the robust demand in our region and we are thankful for their continued investment.”

The expansion marks Southwest’s return to the Pittsburgh-West Palm Beach route which it last served until 2018. Southwest joins Allegiant Air which also offers nonstop West Palm Beach service with up to three weekly flights, year-round.
West Palm Beach becomes Southwest’s 22nd nonstop destination from PIT, more than any other airline at the airport. Southwest is also PIT’s largest airline by total passengers flown with over a quarter of the airport’s total traffic, as of April 2026.
It is also the latest round of new service from PIT to South Florida recently added by airlines which includes new service to Fort Lauderdale added by JetBlue Airways and Allegiant Air. JetBlue resumed daily, year-round service to Fort Lauderdale in November 2025 while Allegiant recently announced three times weekly service starting in October 2026, also year-round. Southwest also serves the Pittsburgh-Fort Lauderdale route with daily flights.
Southwest’s latest expansion comes as the airline introduces its summer schedule at PIT this month which includes new nonstop, seasonal service to Destin-Fort Walton Beach starting June 6, operating on Saturdays through August 2026, and resuming seasonal flights to Myrtle Beach and San Diego.
