La Petite Academy, a childcare center located on the Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) campus is now welcoming enrollment from the public, expanding access to premium early childhood education and care for families across Western Pennsylvania.

“Access to affordable, reliable childcare is one of the most important factors in helping people enter and remain in the workforce,” said Christina Cassotis, CEO of the Allegheny County Airport Authority. “Opening La Petite Academy to the broader community allows us to extend the benefits of this unique resource beyond the airport campus and support more working families throughout our region.”

Located just minutes from major employment centers in the airport corridor, including on the airport campus, La Petite Academy offers educational programs for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years, backed by Learning Care’s decades of experience in early childhood education.

The center features age-appropriate classrooms, experienced educators, secure facilities and family engagement tools that allow parents to stay connected to their child’s daily activities and progress, consistent to the standards Learning Care upholds across its network of schools nationwide. La Petite Academy uses a research-based curriculum, developed by Learning Care, designed to support children’s cognitive, social and emotional development while preparing them for future academic success. The curriculum is built around credentialed, caring educators and a whole-child development approach, preparing children for future academic success.

La Petite at PIT, opened in September 2023, is one of a few childcare facilities located on-site or near major airports in the U.S. The childcare center opened as part of PIT’s ongoing commitment to workforce development and innovative solutions that support employees, those building the new terminal and employers alike. It was developed and currently operated by Learning Care as part of an employer-sponsored childcare partnership with the Allegheny County Airport Authority.

The center will now serve families throughout the region, providing an additional option for families seeking dependable early learning opportunities in a modern learning environment conveniently located at Pittsburgh International Airport.

“Opening enrollment to families across the region is a natural extension of what we’ve built at Pittsburgh International Airport,” said Ian Fleming, VP, Strategic Partnerships at Learning Care. “This school is a strong example of what employer-sponsored childcare can look like: a model built for a workforce with unique needs, now with expanded access for even more families in the community.”

A 2024 report from Boston Consulting Group and Moms First found that accessible childcare boosted recruitment and retention and had a positive effect on employees. Return on investment to organizations that provide on-site, near-site or backup childcare, as well as stipends to make it more affordable, ranged from 90 percent to 425 percent, the report said.

“Our study provides evidence that U.S. employers adding childcare benefits to their employment packages are seeing quick and lasting rewards in recruiting, retention and productivity,” Emily Kos, managing director and partner at BCG and a coauthor of the report, has said.

Children can attend full- or part-time from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

As enrollment opens to the public, La Petite Academy is offering $250 off the first week.  To take advantage of the discount, enroll and attend by Sept. 4, 2026.
