Aaron Rodgers is signed. Steelers players report to Saint Vincent College in Latrobe on July 23 for training camp. It’s time for fans to make travel plans to follow the Black and Gold on the road. And flights from Pittsburgh International Airport bring away games closer.
Just don’t forget your Terrible Towel.
The passionate fan base of the Steelers is widely regarded as one of the most loyal and widespread in the NFL with fans taking over stadiums across the country — and maybe internationally this season.
The marquis away game is on Sept. 29 in Dublin against the Minnesota Vikings. Ireland is accessible on Icelandair with an easy connection from Keflavík International Airport (KEF) in Reykjavík, Iceland, or through Heathrow Airport (LHR) in London via British Airways.
Other games Steeler fans can attend in the U.S. with nonstop flights from Pittsburgh:
- Sept. 7 vs. the New York Jets in MetLife Stadium. MetLife Stadium is a short drive from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). United Airlines and Spirit Airlines offer daily nonstop service to EWR.
- Sept. 21 vs the New England Patriots in Foxborough. Delta Air Lines and JetBlue offer daily nonstop service to Boston Logan International Airport (BOS). Breeze Airways also offers nonstop service to Providence’s Rhode Island T.F. Green International Airport (PVD) located approximately 34 miles south of Gillette Stadium.
- Nov. 9 vs the Los Angeles Chargers. Breeze, which resumed nonstop flights to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) in March, is offering three flights per week in November. American Airlines has added a special “fan flight” leaving Pittsburgh on Nov. 7 with a Nov. 9 return flight. This is in addition to the airline’s daily nonstop service to LAX.
- Nov. 23 vs the Chicago Bears. American and United offer numerous daily flights to Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD). Steelers fans can also fly to Chicago-Midway International Airport (MDW) via Southwest Airlines’ daily nonstop service.
- Dec. 7 vs the Baltimore Ravens. Southwest offers daily nonstop flights to Baltimore/Washington International Airport (BWI).
- Dec. 21 vs the Detroit Lions. Delta has four daily nonstop flights to Detroit (DTW).
If you need your Steelers fix before the regular season, training camp at Saint Vincent College opens to the public on July 24 at 1:55 p.m. The annual Friday Night Lights event is Aug. 1 at 7 p.m. at Latrobe Memorial Stadium with the last open practice on Aug. 12. Admission to open practices is free but you must have a mobile ticket. More information is available at the training camp website.
