JetBlue Airways is bringing back nonstop service to one of Pittsburgh’s top destinations in Florida for the first time in four years.

The airline announced Wednesday it is resuming nonstop service between Pittsburgh International Airport and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) effective Nov. 1, 2025.

JetBlue will operate the route daily, year-round. Its schedule on the PIT-FLL route consists of a 7:10 a.m. departure from Pittsburgh and a 9:58 a.m. arrival at Fort Lauderdale. The return flight will depart from Fort Lauderdale at 8:10 p.m. and arrive in Pittsburgh at 10:46 p.m. Flights can be booked at JetBlue.com.

The airline will operate the Pittsburgh-Fort Lauderdale service with 140-seat Airbus A220-300s, JetBlue’s newest narrowbody aircraft featuring its latest onboard domestic product including its free Fly-Fi internet connectivity, in-flight entertainment and in-seat power at every row.

JetBlue first began daily service between Pittsburgh and Fort Lauderdale from October 2014 through January 2019. It operated the route again with nonstop service from October 2020 until May 2021 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

At PIT, JetBlue will fly to Fort Lauderdale alongside existing daily service on Southwest Airlines and Spirit Airlines. Other nearby South Florida destinations include American Airlines, which operates up to two daily flights, while Southwest operates seasonal nonstops during the spring. Allegiant Air also flies twice weekly nonstop service to West Palm Beach year-round.

“JetBlue has made important investments to popular business and leisure markets that has positioned the carrier as one of the fastest growing airlines at Pittsburgh International Airport. With additions to New York-JFK, Boston and now Fort Lauderdale, JetBlue is giving Pittsburghers and visitors more travel options to key destinations,” said Bryan Dietz, Senior Vice President of Air Service and Commercial Development. “JetBlue is a long-standing partner in our region, and we look forward to continued growth together.”

A major cruise ship port and home to many beachfront resorts, Fort Lauderdale is one of Pittsburgh’s top markets to Florida. Between June 2024 and May 2025, more than 164,000 travelers flew on the route, according to Department of Transportation data, making Fort Lauderdale PIT’s second-busiest Florida market by passenger traffic behind Orlando, and the airport’s ninth-largest market overall, during the period.

The route is part of a major expansion by JetBlue at Fort Lauderdale where it will add nine routes – seven of which touch the Caribbean and Latin America. It will also expand frequencies to nine other markets currently served from Fort Lauderdale. That means more convenient, one-stop connections for Pittsburghers heading to the Caribbean and Latin America for vacation getaways.

“As the top airline in Fort Lauderdale, with more departures than any other carrier on peak travel days, JetBlue is proud to keep raising the bar for customers in South Florida and to continue bringing them to the places they want to go,” said Dave Jehn, JetBlue’s vice president of network planning and airline partnerships. “By adding new routes and expanding service to top destinations, we’re giving travelers more opportunities to enjoy the comfort, quality service and value that sets JetBlue apart.”

With its return to the Pittsburgh-Fort Lauderdale market, JetBlue has been among PIT’s fastest growing airlines of 2025 through expanding its network and capacity in Pittsburgh.

The airline began daily flights to New York-JFK in May following a 12-year hiatus, expanding capacity to the New York market and adding connectivity to Caribbean destinations. JetBlue has since increased its PIT-JFK service with a second daily flight that began Sept. 3 which is currently scheduled to operate through December.

In addition, JetBlue has expanded its service to Boston with a fourth daily flight added this summer and recently transitioned all flights to its new Airbus A220-300 aircraft, replacing its outgoing Embraer E190 fleet. Both daily flights to New York-JFK also operated on Airbus A220 aircraft. The A220 has quickly gained popularity with airlines and travelers for its modern, quieter cabin featuring larger overhead bins for carry-on items, mood lighting, large windows and 2×3 seating layout ideal for both couples and families traveling together.

In June, JetBlue announced the launch of its Blue Sky partnership with United Airlines, which is expected to launch this fall. The agreement, which received DOT approval in July, is aimed at expanding both airlines’ networks. It will allow JetBlue and United sell flights on each other’s websites, share frequent flier mile redemption and offer reciprocal perks like upgrades, priority boarding and same-day flight changes.
