Relaxing in the sand next to clear blue water is a dream for most Pittsburghers enduring a cold, snowy winter. What’s better? Looking up and seeing a plane overhead.
Plane spotters in Pittsburgh are spending the winter months searching for snow-covered aircraft, but the scene looks different down south. Malori L. Asman captured this United Airlines Boeing 737-700 overhead at Maho Beach Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM) in the Caribbean.
Beachgoers saw quite the sight when the aircraft cast a shadow on the otherwise sunny beach. Locals, however, shouldn’t be surprised; SXM is less than a mile away from the Royal Islander Club Resort La Plage at Maho Beach, where this photo was captured. In fact, Maho Beach has become a popular plane spotting location for that very reason.
Meanwhile, somewhere far more northern, Erick Raygor was in the opposite situation. His photo from inside an Air Canada plane captures a birds-eye-view of Pittsburgh, haloed by clouds. Air Canada’s nonstop flight to Montreal resumes on May 1, but the airline flies nonstop to Toronto all year-round.
Thanks for sharing, Malori and Erick!
