Our first photo this week comes from Casper Wood, who captured a Delta Boeing 757-200 departing from Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC).

Established in 1961, ANC ranked as the second busiest cargo hub in the U.S. in 2023 (behind Memphis) and third in the world. It also serves as a vital stopover for trans-Pacific cargo flights to rest crews and refuel.

And did you know that ANC is equidistant from Tokyo and New York?

Closer to home, Laura Woodside, took the second photo as her flight arrived at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR).

The route offers a view of the Passaic River, downtown Newark and the Red Bull Arena, home of Major League Soccer’s New York Red Bulls.

EWR is one of three major airports serving the New York metropolitan area and is the closest to Manhattan. Spirit Airlines offers three daily nonstop flights from Pittsburgh to Newark, and United Airlines offers six.

Our readers continue to pass along shots of unique aircraft, international airports, historical events, gorgeous views and even family vacation photos for this feature. To find out more, click here for photo submission guidelines.
