More than a few Pittsburghers are ready for springtime weather at Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT), but some Blue Sky News readers are clinging onto snowy scenes.

An American Airlines 737 shines in the bright winter light of the mountains at the Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport (BZN) in Montana. Joshua Vasquez, a former Allegheny County Airport Authority intern, captured the photo on a recent trip, and the result looks right out of an Av-Geek holiday card.

For PIT travelers looking for warmer destinations on American Airlines, the carrier has two new routes set to take off this year.

American just added nonstop service to Punta Cana in the Caribbean from PIT. The seasonal route kicks off on Dec. 6 and will operate every Saturday through April 2026 – just in time for Pittsburghers to escape another chilly winter. Flights are already available to book.

American is also starting daily, nonstop flights to Los Angeles on April 4, offering connections to Hawaii, Australia and New Zealand. Breeze Airways also offers nonstop service to LAX.

Vasquez’s second submission from his recent trip was taken from above the aptly named Big Sky country near Yellowstone National Park.

Our readers continue to pass along shots of unique aircraft, international airports, historical events, gorgeous views and even family vacation photos for this feature. We love them! Keep them coming — you can click here for submission guidelines.
