A record number of people participated in the FlyBy 5K and 2-Mile Fun Run/Walk presented by CNX Resources. The race was held at Pittsburgh International Airport on Saturday, Sept. 21.
This one-of-a-kind course gave more than 1,800 participants exclusive access to run on Runway 10L/28R and taxiways November and Bravo. The course took them past aircraft that included a Republic Airways Embraer E175, a Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker from the 171st Air Refueling Wing, and a STAT MedEvac helicopter.
Proceeds from Saturday’s event benefit the Allegheny County Airport Authority Charitable Foundation. The foundation benefits military support organizations as well as aviation scholarships and workforce development programs. In 2023, P3R was able to donate $34,000 to the foundation.
The Allegheny County Airport Authority and P3R organized the FlyBy 5K and 2-Mile Fun Run/Walk. CNX Resources was the event’s title sponsor. Additional sponsors included Michael Baker International, FedEx, DICK’S Sporting Goods, Eaton Corporation, Urban Trail Coffee, Republic Airlines and Magee-Women’s Research Institute. UPMC Health Plan was on hand to ensure the health and safety of all participants.
