Landing at Boston Logan International Airport can be a beautiful experience.

Surrounded by Boston Harbor on three sides, the airport is so close to water that careful management is needed to ensure that airfield activities don’t harm water quality.

Also, it looks pretty neat, especially with boats in the background.

Blue Sky reader Casper Wood sent along this photo capturing a Delta Air Lines Airbus A330-300 landing in Boston at the end of a flight from Paris. The shot captures the moment the plane touches down, framed by a beautiful landscape.

And not to be outdone, reader Matt Slafka snapped this photo above Chicago and Lake Michigan just after takeoff from Chicago O’Hare International Airport aboard a United Airlines CRJ-200.

As we’ve often said, aviation offers a perspective that not everyone gets to see—a live look at topography from above as well as the crowns of skyscrapers and city skylines. Chicago’s, of course, is easily recognizable, including the Willis (formerly Sears) Tower. At 1,450 feet high with 110 stories, it’s among the tallest buildings in the world.

Our readers continue to pass along shots of unique aircraft, international airports, historical events, gorgeous views and even family vacation photos for this feature. We love them! Keep them coming—you can click here for submission guidelines.
