Photos of the Week: Yin and Yang

Peanut butter and jelly. Rodgers and Hammerstein. Mr. Rogers and cardigans. Iconic duos, all.

But our favorite may be airplanes and the sky.

Whether it’s a 747 steadily cruising at 30,000 feet or a fighter jet screaming by as it approaches the sound barrier, seeing an aircraft soar overhead never stops feeling cool.

Planes belong in the sky, or at least with the sky in which they’ll soon fly. As Calli Grimplin shows us, a Qatar Airways Boeing 777-300ER in the Oneworld livery pairs beautifully with a sunrise splashing the sky — even when it’s sitting on our cargo ramp.

But blue sky and white clouds are a plane’s natural environment. Lovina Hepler looked out the window of her Southwest flight as she was returning to Pittsburgh from Florida recently and captured that pairing perfectly.

And you can even see Heinz Field down below, reminding us of another iconic pairing: Pittsburgh fans and their beloved Steelers.
