Questions at the Airport? There’s an Ambassador for That

How do I get to baggage claim? Where’s Gate A11?

If you have a question, no matter how big or seemingly trivial, we probably have an answer for you. What’s more, the answer typically comes from one of the friendly, blue-shirted volunteers who make up PIT’s Ambassador program.

Ambassadors are stationed throughout the terminals at PIT to help assist passengers with questions and to help them solve problems. April is Volunteer Appreciation Month, so we are putting the spotlight on the 80 men and women who dedicate their time to serving travelers every day. The Ambassador program got its start at PIT in 2001.

Along with PIT’s 55 ambassadors, another 25 volunteers make up the PIT PAWS team. PAWS (Pups Alleviating Worry and Stress) is PIT’s dog therapy program, which allows passengers to interact with friendly, trained and certified therapy dogs to help alleviate stress and provide a few minutes of relaxation before flying.

While some volunteers have been at the airport for 15 years or more, others are just a few months in. Each has a passion to serve and takes pride in being a welcoming face of Pittsburgh.
