The cloudy day in our first photo this week may resonate with Pittsburghers, but this shot wasn’t taken at Pittsburgh International Airport. John Binek III captured this American Airlines 737-800 at Chicago O’Hare (ORD).

The Windy City was eclipsed by clouds, putting this aircraft in the spotlight as it taxied out for its flight. Considering American Airlines flies to PIT three times daily from ORD, this beauty may even have been on its way to the Steel City.

Meanwhile, thousands of miles south of Chicago in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Frederick Goldsmith hopped on a different American Airlines flight, but he didn’t travel alone. Two adorable rescue pups were his travel companion for the day.

Goldsmith is a volunteer for Cruzan Satos Rescue, an independent dog rescue in St. Croix in the Virgin Islands. The organization’s mission is to help stray dogs abandoned on the island find a new home.

Cruzan Satos volunteers are welcome to bring some of the adoptable pups along with them on their flight, leading to Goldsmith’s adorable travel party. He and the dogs were headed to their new homes in Charlotte, N.C., but not before making a stop in Pittsburgh first.

Thanks for sharing, John and Frederick! We hope the pups enjoyed their trip through PIT!

Our readers continue to pass along shots of unique aircraft, international airports, historical events, gorgeous views and even family vacation photos for this feature. We love them! Keep them coming — you can click here for submission guidelines.
