Members of the public interested in exploring the new terminal during the Saturday, Oct. 11 Community Open House can now officially register for the event and select their preferred time.

Registration opened today at https://communityopenhouse.pittransformed.com/. The Open House is scheduled to run from noon to 7 p.m. and is free and open to all members of the public. Complimentary parking will be provided. Registration is required, and space is limited.

The Open House welcomes 1,500 people an hour for the opportunity to see and explore the new pre-security terminal before it opens to travelers. This includes the opportunity to see the new terminal ceiling and lighting that reflects the rolling hills and stars of Western Pennsylvania and the tree columns that reflect the region’s trees – and are just as unique.

A few things to know:

  • Visitors will select a one-hour time slot for their visit. If you are unable to select a specific time, all slots are full for that hour.
  • Each adult will need to register separately and should use a unique email address for registration. A registration that uses an email that has already been used for a registration will be rejected as a duplicate.
  • Adults may register children under the age of 18 with their registration. Please do not duplicate registrations of children. Children must arrive at the same time as the adult with whom they’re registered and must remain with that adult at all times.

With the tremendous response from Pittsburghers for the public trial, officials expect that available time slots will fill quickly.

“We’ve said from the beginning that this new state-of-the-art terminal is built for Pittsburgh, by Pittsburgh and we are excited to open the doors to the public to tour,” Allegheny County Airport Authority CEO Christina Cassotis said.

“This is the front door to the region and the public should be very proud of what this community has accomplished. From the excellent work of our local union trades to public and governmental support at all levels, this amazing community has been a key partner in helping to build the future of the region and lead the industry.”

The Open House is the latest in a series of events leading up to opening day this fall. The Open House follows the Sept. 20 Public Trial – where over 2,000 members of the public will test the new terminal’s systems and processes – and an Oct. 3 gala for partners and organizations involved in building the project.

This Open House offers a unique opportunity for community members to explore the state-of-the-art facility before it is fully operational. Visitors will be able to explore at their own pace and learn about the new terminal.

There will be a variety of activities for all ages with multiple community partners including the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh, Kamin Science Center, Tree Pittsburgh and the Airport Authority’s xBridge program, offering interactive, educational and hands-on activations.
