PIT’s Annual Auction Maximizes Value for Used Airport Equipment, Left Behind Items

Ever wonder what travelers leave behind at Pittsburgh International Airport? The answer: just about everything.

From electronics and jewelry to luggage, sporting goods and even vehicles, PIT is once again inviting the public to discover hidden treasures during its annual Lost & Found and Used Equipment Auction.

Each year, thousands of items that go unclaimed after extensive efforts to reunite them with their owners are made available for auction. These items are auctioned off alongside retired airport vehicles and used equipment.

The money raised benefits both charity and the airport in helping to offset replacement costs for airport equipment. Used airport equipment proceeds go to the airport while proceeds from lost and found items go to charity. Left behind clothing and eyeglasses are also donated to charity.

“Our customer service team does everything they can to reunite left behind items with passengers but ultimately many items aren’t claimed. At the same time, used airport equipment may have reached the end of useful life for the airport but may have value for other people in the community,” said Travis McNichols, Chief Operations Officer. “The auction is an efficient, fair and popular way to engage with the public and maximize value for these items.”

As part of reunification efforts, PIT launched a new digital self-service Lost & Found platform in 2025, giving travelers the ability to submit claims, track their belongings in real time and receive automated updates 24 hours a day, seven days a week — all as part of its “We Got You” initiative to make travel easier and less stressful.

The lost and found items are available for return to their rightful owner for 30 days before being classified as unclaimed.

Notable items from this year’s auction include:

• Windone Folding Electric Bicycle (e-bike) – Black compact folding commuter e-bike with rear-mounted battery, integrated front light, rear cargo rack, disc brakes and 20-inch wheels.
• Casio G-SHOCK watch, one of Casio’s premium all-metal luxury G-SHOCK models.
• Handcrafted Sabika necklace with white stones
• Logitech keyboard
• Owala water bottles and tumblers
• Additional watches, jewelry and sunglasses
• Electronics including headphones, cell phones, laptops, smart watches and tablets.
• Luggage, backpacks and travel accessories
• Strollers and child car seats
• Sporting goods and miscellaneous items
• Airport maintenance equipment

It also includes 19 vehicles that have been abandoned at the airport. The vehicles include a 2008 Mercedes Benz convertible, 2022 Honda HR-V (silver), 2011 Toyota Sienna (brown), 2007 Toyota Camry (blue), and a 2005 Acura TL (silver). These vehicles are sold as-is.

All sales are final. Applicable buyer’s premiums, taxes and fees apply. You must be at least 18 to register and bid.
