Breeze Airways is expanding its nonstop service between Pittsburgh International Airport and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), as well as bringing back seasonal service to San Diego and other cities, including Portland, Maine.
In a recent schedule update made by the airline, Breeze will move up the resumption of its Pittsburgh-L.A. service from May 2 to March 12. In addition, the carrier will increase its twice-weekly service to three times a week, with flights increasing to five times a week in early June.
Through next summer, Breeze’s peak schedule will have the airline operating nonstop flights on the Pittsburgh-L.A. route every day other than Mondays and Fridays.
The additional flights already are for sale and can be booked at FlyBreeze.com.
Breeze began service between PIT and LAX in September 2023 after transferring the route from John Wayne Airport (SNA) in nearby Orange County. Since moving service from SNA last year, Breeze has operated flights to LAX on Mondays and Fridays.
In addition to leisure travelers seeking Southern California’s many attractions, the Pittsburgh-L.A. route carries business travelers including film industry professionals for TV and movie production.

Breeze also will resume seasonal nonstop service to San Diego starting May 2, another West Coast market the airline added from PIT last year. Breeze will resume its twice-weekly schedule, with flights on Mondays and Fridays.
Prior to Breeze adding service, PIT had gone five years without nonstop service to San Diego. It had been among the top unserved markets from Pittsburgh.
Breeze is one of two carriers that added nonstop service between Pittsburgh and San Diego last year. Southwest Airlines, which also operates the route seasonally, will resume nonstop service on Saturdays beginning June 7.
Like Los Angeles, San Diego is a significant business and leisure travel market. While nearly 30 million people visit San Diego annually to take advantage of perpetual sunshine and gorgeous beaches, the nonstop service also supports business ties between the two cities.
Additionally, Breeze will increase nonstop service to Portland, Maine – another leisure market that has grown in popularity with Pittsburghers – when it resumes seasonal flights on May 1. Breeze will add Tuesday flights on the Pittsburgh-Portland route in addition to its existing Sunday and Thursday service.
Breeze also plans to resume nonstop, twice-weekly service to Norfolk/Virginia Beach from PIT on May 2. Nonstop service to Raleigh-Durham, previously offered seasonally, is now planned to operate on a year-round basis.
Breeze, created by former JetBlue and WestJet founder David Neeleman, has been one of the fastest-growing airlines at PIT coming out of the pandemic. First entering PIT in 2021 with four destinations, Breeze has grown its Pittsburgh network to 11 destinations. In October, the airline reached a milestone when it surpassed 360,000 total passengers carried at PIT since starting service at the airport.
Breeze has quickly grown with its fleet of new, fuel-efficient Airbus A220-300 aircraft to connect underserved markets with nonstop service. Breeze plans to have an active fleet of 32 A220s in service by the end of 2024, with dozens more on the way in the coming years as part of its order of up to 120 aircraft announced earlier this year.
