Community Invited to Pre-Security Art Crawl at Pittsburgh International Airport
Artists and Airport Authority art program team members will greet visitors, talk about their work and the collection

Community members, art enthusiasts and travelers will have a unique opportunity next week to experience Pittsburgh International Airport’s (PIT) public art program.
Artists and Allegheny County Airport Authority (ACAA) art program team members will greet visitors and talk about their work and the collection during an art crawl from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13.
This Art in the Airport Program event celebrates the completion of permanent art installations at PIT’s new terminal.
“Pittsburgh International Airport is more than a transportation hub — it is a gateway to our region’s culture, creativity and innovation,” said Keny Marshall, ACAA Arts and Culture Manager. “We are excited to welcome the public for this special evening and provide an opportunity to experience the remarkable artwork on display while meeting the talented artists who help bring these spaces to life.”
Attendees will gain insight into the inspiration, creative process and stories behind the installations that help transform the airport into a welcoming and dynamic public space. The art crawl reflects ACAA’s dedication to supporting the arts and showcasing local and regional talent.
The Art in the Airport Program aims to elevate the passenger and team member experience with diverse installations and engaging performances throughout the PIT and Allegheny County Airport campuses. Through its public art initiatives, PIT seeks to create memorable experiences that celebrate the unique character and creative spirit of Southwestern Pennsylvania. Art in the Airport is made possible through the generous support of The Heinz Endowments and PNC Bank.
The art crawl does not require registration and is free to the public. Parking, which can be reserved in advance at ParkatPIT.com, and food are not included.
Participants can get a complimentary collection brochure at Information Desks for their self-guided tour of the art across all three floors of the terminal, outside and even in the parking garage.
PIT is also presenting a free series of virtual talks titled “Meet the Artists.” Attendees will learn about the inspiration behind each installation, the challenges of creating art for a major public space and the role art plays in shaping the traveler’s experience and will have the chance to ask questions of the artists.
