Frontier Airlines tripled its air service offerings at PIT last week with the addition of four nonstop routes.
The ultra-low-cost carrier celebrated the first of its new routes on May 16 with an inaugural early morning flight to Philadelphia. Frontier, known for featuring animals on its plane tails, now offers two flights per day from PIT to PHL, joining American Airlines on the route with nonstop service.
Frontier’s new service provides passengers more flight choices with quick access—less than 60 minutes in the air—from one side of Pennsylvania to the other.
The inaugural flight to Dallas-Fort Worth was launched from the same gate approximately two hours later. The route from PIT to DFW will fly three times a week.
“We are thrilled to be here today to celebrate our inaugural service for a number of new routes,” said Steve Schuller, SVP of Human Resources with Frontier Airlines, who was on hand at PIT to commemorate the busy week of inaugural flights.
The carrier celebrated the start of nonstop service from PIT to Raleigh-Durham (RDU) and Atlanta (ATL) on May 17. Both destinations are accessible through four weekly flights from PIT and are also served by other carriers.
Schuller added, “It’s a perfect model for us and hopefully [this] will be the start of a lot of expansion here in Pittsburgh.”
Welcoming passengers at all four launch events were Frontier Airlines staff and PIT team members. Hosted at each flight’s departing gate, the celebrations featured music, refreshments, decorations and PIT and Frontier Airlines merchandise.
Frontier Airlines has expanded its presence at PIT, offering a total of six nonstop flights to destinations as far west as Denver and as far south as Orlando. The addition of routes to PHL, DFW, RDU and ATL means PIT passengers now have access to a total of 61 nonstop flights.
