Thanks to a community coalition including VisitPITTSBURGH, Idea Foundry and Pittsburgh International Airport, Pittsburghers have a chance to head to Shanghai in August – nonstop.

“Between the hours saved in connection and the attractiveness of the price, for those interested in exploring China, now is the time and this is the way to go,” said Mike Matesic, president and CEO of Idea Foundry, a Pittsburgh-based organization which promotes business, investment and tourism ties to China.

Officials announced the flights last week as part of a strategic investment to increasingly grow the Chinese tourism market to Pittsburgh with a goal of accelerating scheduled service.

The first flight is scheduled to depart Pittsburgh on Aug. 3 on China Eastern Airlines. The Boeing 777-300ER carries 316 seats in a first/business/economy three-class configuration.

To find out more about the flights, which start as low as $1,098, visit www.flypittsburgh.com/chinacharters. Bookings can be made through Travel2 and First in Service. Travel 2 has also put together land packages starting at $990 when booked with these flights.
