Whether it’s a sunset, a sunrise or the glow from Pittsburgh International Airport’s terminal, it’s easy to find the light at the airport.

So was the case for both of our photos this week, which captured light in the night sky in two different ways.

The photo below showcases a rare view of PIT. Pittsburgh’s airport is known for its iconic X-shaped airside terminal, and Taylor Hardy captured an aerial shot of it on her departure from PIT. The X shines against the dwindling night sky, and in front of it, PIT’s new airport does too.

Hardy’s picture helps illuminate the terminal modernization program’s recent construction progress. With over 70 percent of the terminal now complete, the airport is on track for a 2025 opening.

This photo highlights the new terminal’s rolling roof, representing Western Pennsylvania’s rolling hills and encompassing the beauty of the region it will soon serve. Also visible are the bright lights shining through the glass windows covering the terminal; during the day, they’ll invite the sunlight in.

Michael Natto captured a different kind of sunshine on his Allegiant flight from Myrtle Beach to Pittsburgh. The sunset helps the clouds glow, and the only thing that makes a sunset picture better is taking it from an airplane window.

Thanks for sharing these glowing submissions, Taylor and Michael!

Our readers continue to pass along shots of unique aircraft, international airports, historical events, gorgeous views and even family vacation photos for this feature. We love them! Keep them coming — you canclick here for submission guidelines.
