Since its founding in 1982, Sun Country Airlines has been well-known for the vibrant paint schemes sported by its all-Boeing 737 fleet.

In 2018, the ultra-low-cost carrier decided to update its look, replacing the mostly blue scheme the airline previously used. Sun Country selected the new livery following a voting contest by the airline’s employees which chose the final design out of four possible choices.

The winning design features a transformation of the fuselage with bright orange, blue and white colors and larger Sun Country billboard titles. The tail logo, which has stuck with Sun Country since its founding, was retained but with minor updates.

Sun Country plans to repaint its entire 737 fleet with the updated look over the next few years. In the meantime, several of its nearly 40 active total passenger 737s can be seen wearing the new livery – including at Pittsburgh International Airport, where Sun Country recently resumed seasonal service to Minneapolis.

Casper Wood caught one of Sun Country’s newly painted planes flying over Boston Harbor while on final approach to Boston Logan International Airport. We love how this livery pops in bright sunlight!
