Summer is almost here. Pools are open, ice cream stores are lively and families are embarking on warm weather vacations—often by air.

But some local travelers jumped the gun by flying to summery locations during the winter months. Matthew Swetoha captured this beautiful photo of American Airlines’ US Airways heritage jet landing at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport on a lovely winter day.

Our second photo this week, taken by Nolan Merulli from the approach end of Runway 28R at PIT, features a Breeze Airways Airbus A220-300.

Merulli, a 20-year-old private pilot, is in the professional pilot program at Community College of Beaver County.

Thanks for sharing, Mathew and Nolan!

Our readers continue to pass along shots of unique aircraft, international airports, historical events, gorgeous views and even family vacation photos for this feature. We love them! Keep them coming — you can click here for submission guidelines.
