On the heels of last week’s Jeff Goldblum and Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra announcement, Pittsburgh International Airport today announced additional entertainment and other details for the evening’s event.

The event, being held for partners and organizations involved in building the project to celebrate the completion of the new terminal, will be at the new terminal on Friday, Oct. 3. It is one of many events leading up to the opening later this fall.

Guests will be able to explore the modernized landside terminal as they enjoy music from DJ Bonics. Born Brandon Glova, DJ Bonics is a hip-hop and EDM DJ best known as Wiz Khalifa’s tour DJ. He’s rocked stages with Snoop Dogg, Mac Miller, and Big Sean, and is known for his viral mixes and radio shows.

The evening also will feature music by Cello Fury, a rock powerhouse with three cellists and a drummer. Cello Fury’s original music combines the symphonic sounds of the cello with driving rock beats. Cello Fury has a multi-faceted approach to performing, which combines high-energy live shows, music education, workshops, and tours.

Throughout the evening, a line-up of Pittsburgh chefs will put an exclamation point on the Transformed PIT gala:

  • Omar Abuhejleh of Allegro Hearth Bakery
  • Nate Bateman of Altius
  • Rafael Vencio of AmBoy
  • Tomasz Skowronski and Kate Lasky of Apteka
  • Ginger Fisher Baldwin of Balvanera
  • Kate Romane of Black Radish Kitchen
  • Augusta Williams of Cheat Day
  • David Anoia and Rachel Walton of DiAnoia’s Eatery
  • Marcella Ogrodnik of Duo’s Taqueria
  • Michael Taylor of Golden Gai Izakaya, Richard DeShantz Restaurant Group
  • Jamilka Borges and Dianne DeStefano of Lilith
  • Nate Hobart of Morcilla
  • Shaquala Swinton of PAIR Charcuterie
  • Roger Li of Umami and Parlor Dim Sum
  • Csilla Thackray of Titusz

As previously announced, the first Public Trial on Sept. 20 kickstarts the events – where members of the public will test the new terminal’s systems and processes, followed by the gala two weeks later for partners and organizations involved in building the terminal. A second trial will be announced in the coming weeks, and an Oct. 11 Community Open House is next, where more than 10,000 members of the public can explore the new terminal. (Registration for the Community Open House is still available and can be found here.)

PIT’s new, state-of-the-art terminal was built from the ground up to anticipate travelers’ needs and adapt to the local passenger. Designed to evoke the natural beauty and hardworking spirit of the region, it’s a new, welcoming front door that connects the world to Pittsburgh and Pittsburgh to the world.

The new terminal will improve the passenger experience – from a streamlined security checkpoint to a shorter baggage wait time to a revamped concessions program and more parking.
