When Qatar Airways joined the oneworld alliance in 2013, it was the only major airline from the Persian Gulf region to join a global airline alliance. It celebrated its membership by debuting a new oneworld livery on a Boeing 777 at Hamad International Airport outside Doha, Qatar, its homebase.

Since then, Qatar has decked out five more planes in its fleet with oneworld liveries. However, none of them had made an appearance at Pittsburgh International Airport until a couple of weeks ago as part of the carrier’s cargo service to Western Pennsylvania.

Simon Brown was there to capture the 777 as it landed, and as he said in his submission, “The oneworld livery really highlights how aviation can bring the world together and make it feel smaller.”

We agree, Simon. And while we love the Steel City and the Keystone State, we wouldn’t mind being a little closer to the gorgeous beaches of Miami, where Ryan Phillis headed the same day the Qatar flight landed.

His bird’s-eye view has us considering joining the growing number of passengers headed for leisure destinations this spring to get a firsthand look at another part of the beautiful world we all share.

Thanks, Simon and Ryan!

Our readers continue to pass along shots of unique aircraft, international airports, historical events, gorgeous views and even family vacation photos for this feature. We love them! Keep them coming—you can click here for submission guidelines.
