Inspiration comes in all shapes and sizes, and Pittsburgh International Airport is home to an adorable hero on wheels, a therapy dog named Boone who’s on the verge of national recognition.
Boone, a member of the PIT PAWS team at the airport, is one of seven finalists in the American Humane Hero Dog Awards. The dogs will be featured on the Hallmark Channel on Oct. 20, when one will be named the 2021 American Hero Dog, the result of a nationwide vote on the show’s website.
Boone uses a wheelchair to help him get around, but that doesn’t slow him down. He was rescued by Tanya Diable 3½ years ago from an abusive owner; now he’s a regular in the airport terminal, capturing the hearts of travelers.
The PIT PAWS volunteers—Boone and more than two dozen owner-and-dog teams—have recently resumed their efforts in the terminal after taking a break during the height of the pandemic.
You can vote for Boone once a day through Tuesday, by clicking on this link: https://herodogawards.org/vote/.
